If you know, if you really KNOW, then the World of Twist will be right up there with other hidden gems of the early '90s music scene. World of Twist fell through the holes between Madchester and Brit Pop, but left behind the dazzling, psychedelic monster of an album in Quality Street, some truly stellar singles and, importantly, the appreciation of many fellow musicians (some blokes called Liam and Noel included, apparently).
Told by guitarist and chief songwriter Gordon King, this is heroic tale of nearly dones and might have beens and ultimately a crumbling apart in a torrent of drugs, mental illness, musical differences, sartorial contretemps and all-round shoulder-shrugging apathy.
As Jeremy Dellar says inside "World of Twist were the Roxy Music of their time, I can't think of or give a better compliment than that."
