We Never Fold the Same Origami Twice | Anders Frederik Steen
We Never Fold the Same Origami Twice is the second volume of notes on wine-making and wine-drinking by Anders Frederik Steen, covering the period between 2021 and 2025 and following on from our bestseller Poetry Is Growing in Our Garden.
While the first volume covered the eight years between 2013 and 2020, a period in which Anders made the transition from a sommelier in his native Copenhagen to a fledgling winemaker in the Ardèche region of France, by 2021 we're through the looking glass and into the infinite range of variables that must be contended with in the making of a wine.
Together, the two books form a long-term record of an individual winemaker—and the inconstant, non-linear learning process that's ultimately produced a body of highly sought-after wines but also the broader context in which he works: a natural wine movement in the midst of change and expansion and a reaffirmation of its ideals.
While Anders is very much the author of these notes, there's a sense in which the wines are there to write their own histories. In this latest volume, we continue an exercise in listening and exploration.
