Following on from the excellent Vintage Poster Scrap and Vintage Music T-Shirt Scrap comes Vintage Jazz Poster Scrap. A lovely addition to the series, this issue finds collector/curator Yasushi Ide 'immersed in the deep swamp called jazz' and creating a book that centered around those images with a personal resonance to the author.
The collection, which features primarily jazz posters, but also delves into flyers, booklets and images from jazz magazines, includes chapters covering the jazz sub-genres big band, free & spiritual, jazz funk, Brazilian jazz, Japanese jazz & fusion, acid jazz and much more.
As for artists, it's a veritable who's who of the jazz world - roaming from classic era Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk and Miles Davies, to the more modern pop take from Sade, Galliano and the JTQ.
As a reference source, this is hard to beat. As the author notes, unlike rock, there just aren't that many jazz posters out there. a treasure trove for fans of jazz, graphic design and ephemera.
