The Wild World of Barney Bubbles | Paul Gorman

Regular price £30.00

I’m Barney Bubbles was a truly groundbreaking graphic artist whose art defined a period of pop culture in the late '70s and early '80s and whose influence is felt just as strongly today. His album covers and associated design work for Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, Nick Lowe, Billy Bragg and Hawkwind are iconic and bear a compositional flair, experimental use of colour, visual wit and uniqueness which are unmistakably his own.

A multidisciplinary artist, bubbles also created a number of commercial commissions for Sir Terence Conran, worked on the counterculture magazine Oz, directed many music videos (including The Specials 'Ghost Town'), collaborated with well known artists and photographers, and produced furniture, set designs and paintings. A true Renaissance figure.

'The Wild World of Barney Bubbles' is a revised edition of Paul Gorman's earlier work of 2008, 'Reason to be Cheerful'. This new, extended publication  contains hundreds of rare and previously unpublished photographs, working sketches, notebooks, and original artwork. It includes new essays and sixteen extra pages of rare ephemera painstakingly collected by the author over the years.
