Originally conceived as a unique, hand-painted book, this one-of-a-kind meditation on color and context by artist Eleonora Marton delights in the unexpected elements of life that make us whole.
Inspired by an imaginative game of free association, A Hole in the Whole presents juxtapositions of light and dark, the playful and the profound. Inside, Marton responds to over thirty-seven pairs of identical circles—contrasted and placed against bright pops of color, and increasing in size—with accompanying bits of text, sharing the connections (or surprising leaps) between them. The result is a colour-drenched quest to pause and ponder that offers a whole new way of seeing and being.
There is something Shrigley-esque in the combinations of simple image and text that we love - and the exposed spine allows the book to lie flat so you can fully enjoy these gradually enlarging circles (or peas, freckles, pies, memories and dreams)
