Sixteen classic tales, two poems (including Christina Rossetti's Goblin Market) and an essay make up the sinister menu, and each entry has been selected and introduced by editor Zara-Louise Stubbs. It's a heady concoction that may leave the reader feeling a little... queasy.
The addition of illustrations taken from the books of Isabella Mary Beeton is a nice touch.
