When I think back to school, the thing I can remember most was a lesson about precipitation, which might explain my slight obsession with the weather.
The lessons we were never taught were those important things that often come to dominate and trouble our adult lives. Imagine a 'how to Trust People' lesson or a 'How to move on From Sorrow or Betrayal' assembly. This helpful book from The School of Life is here to fill in a few gaps in the curriculum and with chapters entitled 'No One Cares', 'Be More Selfish' and 'Be Free' you just know that you'll at least stay awake during these lessons.
It's all here - lessons on love, careers, childhood trauma, loneliness - all delivered with a directness and humanity that will make us re-appraise, and consider a kinder and richer life.
School's out.
