The Cult of The Green Women | Rebecca Parkin

Regular price £17.00

The Cult of the Green Women has us reminiscing back to the days of Gore Shriek shlock horror comix, '70s Giallo movies, B-Movie posters and Fuzztones LP sleeves, and that's a big tick in our book.

Inside these sickly green saturated pages you'll discover characters like the witch the siren and the mermaid re-evaluated and presented as empowered yet complex and troublesome figures which occupy a liminal space in the modern world. Parkin's work investigates the mythology and complex history of the demonic feminine, with the inherent contradictions that find both freedom and derision situated within.

The book includes a selection of short creative essays that accompany the lurid portraits, and there are some brilliant epithets that relate to the demonic female (Spearmint nympho anyone?).

This excellent zine celebrates these green-skinned women, and presents them as "possessed, only by their will and lust for life, by a high spirited knowingness, wild mischievousness and a thirst for subversion."

Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of the Green Women...
