Needles & Plastic: Flying Nun Records 1981-1988 | Matthew Goody

Regular price £28.99

Flying Nun Records are one of the great independent labels, and Needles and Pins tells their story through the releases in their incredible discography - starting from The Clean's 'Tally Ho!' 7" in 1981 through to the Verlaines' 2nd album Bird Dog in 1988. It's a comprehensive and fascinating trawl through the labels first critical decade - a decade that gave us singles and albums from some iconic bands like The Chills, The Verlaines, The Clean, and The Bats, as well as a swathe of lesser known gems (there is a whole page on Straitjacket Fits 'Life in One Chord' - a record that still gives me goosebumps when i listen to it).

Tons of band photos fill the pages too, as well as posters, gig tickets, record sleeves and other ephemera, all helping to flesh out this momentous, home-grown, other side of the world indie-scene whose influence is still felt today
