It was coffee that was a deciding factor in us putting down roots in Leeds city centre. We noticed Laynes Espresso on New Station Street, stopped by, had a brew and realised that things had changed, both in coffee terms and in terms of the independent scene itself.
Coffee Shop Series, by graphic designer Dan Saul Pilgrim, is the first in a new sequence of coffee-related titles that shines a light on the UK coffee scene one city at a time. First up is Leeds, a hub for independent food and drink providers and the home of exceptional coffee. Inside we visit Laynes Espresso, Cafe 164, Kapow, Archive, Fika North, Stage Espresso and North Star Coffee.
A stylishly produced document that combines rich visuals courtesy of photographer Justin Slee with concise text on each establishment visited.
Oh, and there's a photo of Stevie inside - worth the entrance fee alone.
