The features curated for issue eight of Typeone aim to platform the thoughts and experiences of the individuals, as well as topics and conversations at the heart of Japan's design industry, put forward by natives of its culture.
Inside - we find articles that explore the alternative narrative in Japanese graphic design history, and take a look at the current graphic design landscape. There are insights into Japanese font production, and pioneering technological type innovations, and interviews with innovative studios (Kensaku Kato of Laboratories, and Minami Tabei of Studio Minatabei). There are also spotlight sections which throws light on graphic designer, Ayano Murayama's personal and cultural influences, and the moments of obsession that help to inform the work of type designer, Zin Nagao.
