Inside:
Wood is everything for Kang Jianfei, it shapes his entire existence. His cover artwork ways of Looking at a Blackbird is compared to an ongoing, multi-dimensional theatre project that has so far included installation, performance art, interactive apps, sculpture and film. Derek Michael Besant RCA presents a profile of two artists, Hideki Kimura and William Laing, who also present their print work like stage sets on shelves and Emma Hill looks at the signature prints works of Ken Kiff. Continuing the theme of stages and performance, Suzanne Moxhay ARE describes the construction of the intimate and elaborate sets for her prints. The use of photopolymer is widespread but often misunderstood and we share the thoughts on the potential of this technique from some leading practitioners. There are two different community print projects in profile: IKON Gallery’s Art in Prisons programme and The People Powered Press project. There is also a celebration of Sara Clark and Yao Jialu, who present the ideas behind their prizewinning prints.
