Tsukioka Yoshitoshi | Ghost Stories Of Ukiyo-e

Regular price £25.00

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi is widely recognized as the last great master of the ukiyo-e genre of woodblock printing and painting. He became a fervent proponent of working using traditional Japanese craft methods and was one of the greatest innovators of woodblock printing before it was eclipsed by mass reproduction methods like photography and lithography.

This beautifully illustrated softbound book features numerous plates of Yoshitoshi’s ukiyo-e prints themed around ghosts, spirits, and all things supernatural - a subject matter that was a central theme throughout his career. This volume includes all images made for his two best-known collections - Wakan Hyakumonogatari & Shinkei Sanjuroku Kaisen.

Gorgeous colour repro on soft paper with obi strip and belly band. Japanese with some English translation.
