Alex Payne is the Stone Wizard, a self-proclaimed obsessive on ancient Britain. Turned on by a formative visit to Stonehenge, he began a quest to cross the country in an attempt to find the physical vestiges of our megalithic past. This book has sprung out of those wanderings, and is a devotive and personal document that contains photographs, drawings, collages, and writings that capture the essence of Payne's experiences and feelings about these ancient sites.
A chronological journey, On The Ridge takes us from epiphany at Stonehenge, through to Cornwall, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Cumbria, and Norfolk - visiting Avebury, Stanton Drew and the Peak District on the way.
