Sight and Sound | March 2025

Regular price £6.50
Less than 6 moths after his last Sight & Sound cover, David Lynch appears again - this time in much sadder circumstances. Watching his face appear on the BAFTAs in the list of 'much missed' was a pretty heartbreaking moment.
This issue presents a tribute to the great man, with a recollection by Micheal Atkinson, a republished transcript from the 1984 Guardian Lectures, where he talks about Eraserhead and The Elephant Man, and a section from the archives where key collaborators talk about their experiences working with the director.
Elsewhere - Mike Leigh talks to Jonathan Romney, and lead actor Marianne Jean-Baptiste to Leila Latif, on the release of Leigh's new film Hard Truths. There's a sit down with Brazillian filmmaker Walter Salles, an interview from the archives with Danish star Asta Nielsen, and the usual glut of film and book reviews.
