Boston was like a beacon in my late teens, not only was Cheers based in the Massachusetts capital, but it was also where bands like The Cars, Buffalo Tom and Pixies were from. Best of all, this was where The Lemonheads were from - the hardcore punks turned country gentlemen who, in 'It's a Shame About Ray', had given the world (and me and my friends) a soundtrack that defined a lazy grunge summer and lived with us forever. Evan Dando was the Lemonheads, the rangy, horribly handsome, blonde-maned singer who seemed to spend far too much time ligging and lounging backstage with the Britpop aluminate to be coming up with all the incredible songs that always turned up on his albums. But keep coming up with them he did.
This book is a rockin' stroll through his life, from high school bands to grunge poster boy and beyond.
Oh, and Mr Dando has touched these...
