Rintaro: Japanese Food from an Izakaya in California | Sylvan M. Brackett & Jessica Battilana

Regular price £30.00

Rintaro is a beautiful restaurant in California that creates the food of a Japanese Izakaya by way of the west coast's golden state. Owned-and-operated by Kyoto-born Sylvan Mishima Brackett, Rintaro has been Michelin recommended since 2016 - this is their first cookbook, and a handsome thing it is.

The book, which is beautifully laid out and stuffed full of fantastic photography, features crowd-pleasing foods like curry rice, tonkatsu, and yakitori, eaten most often at lunch counters and in home kitchens, alongside sashimi, fresh bamboo shoots, and other dishes that are usually considered part of a more elevated Japanese cooking tradition.

Through clear instruction, abundant photography, and utterly delicious recipes, Rintaro demystifies Japanese food for home cooks with over 70 recipes for rice, simmered dishes, homemade udon, and grilled foods: exciting but simple food that tastes both like Japan and California.
