We are delighted to be hosting Dan Brackenbury and Memorial, MA
Memorial, MA is a photographic series examining suburban American houses that are adorned with exuberant Christmas decorations. The images explore importance of home in the American heartland and how the sanctity of domestic space is celebrated with lights and wreaths. The setting is an otherworldly, fictional Massachusetts town, where the distinction between truth and fiction is ambiguous and uncertain.
Dan Brackenbury is a photographer and filmmaker interested in the divisions, isolation and transience inherent in present day urban and suburban environments. Much of his work implies an underlying narrative and calls for the viewer to piece together the missing elements to a larger, more complex story. He is undertaking a PhD in the School of Architecture at the Royal College of Art and teaches in the School of Design at the University of Leeds.
