Subtitled 'calming tales to read at bedtime', The Sleepy Pebble is a collection of soothing stories that have been written to incorporate mindfulness and relaxation techniques to help children's bedtimes become a bit easier.
Written by Professor Alice Gregory and Christy Kirkpatrick, the book draws upon the work of sleep experts, psychologists, parents, mindfulness experts and children and combines storytelling with image visualisation and relaxation techniques. For example 'The tree who wanted to stay up late' is accompanied by activities where we are asked us to picture ourselves by the edge of a forest and imagine squeezing soft soil in our hands. It's really effective, especially when combined with the Eleanor Hardiman's delicate illustrations.
