Prepare to be astounded by the 'professor of the mad brush'. This is the third in the series of PIE books which looks at the work of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, a master of Edo Period woodblock prints and paintings. This beautiful book concentrates on Kuniyoshi's kyohitsu (comic) work, which are works he devised to make people laugh or to surprise them. There are humorous monsters, upside down portraits, ogres, faces made of other human forms and Fukurokuju's big head!
There are 60 reproductions that can be removed from the book so you can appreciate them in the same way as they would have been all that time ago. On the back of each page there are wonderfully illustrated creative ideas too!
