This time last year we were fortunate enough to have The People Powered Press in our event space as part of Oli Bentley & Split's 'These Northern Types' exhibition. The press, believed to be the biggest letterpress printing press in the world, was designed to hold and print a solid steel 720pt type called Graft, also created by Oli/Split. It was a feat of engineering, it printed VERY large posters, it took two people to use it and it and its product were a work of art.
This Graft type sampler, which includes a staple bound booklet, fold-out informational poster (380 x 600mm) and card insert provides not only a visual guide to the weights of this Northern born typeface, but information about the making of the press, the forging of the type itself and details of how the project came about.
A beautifully put together artefact which has been printed by Leeds' own Pressision Creative Print & Finishing on fine quality Fedrigoni paper stock.
