Counter-Print Packaging: A Modern Compendium of Graphic Design for Packaging
A new Counter-Print book is always reason to celebrate in these here parts and their new title is a cracker. It seems logical for a book dedicated to contemporary packaging design to be their first to come in a square format hardback, and one large enough to really let the contents shine (245 x 250mm).
The chapters cover packaging for food; drink; cosmetics; confectionery, fashion and home and provide a vital snapshot of modern graphic design. It is good to find such freshness and innovation in a world where we are constantly bombarded by bad design.
In addition to the feast of visual on offer, there are interviews with some of the creative studios featured, such as IWANT, Pop & Pac, Athletics and Essen International.
This book is a design time capsule for sure, but through it's neat and careful curation should take its place among the canon of great design books and be a source of inspiration for years to come.
