The third and final volume of Beyond Heaven captures the spirit and energy of the emerging Chicago House scene through its ephemera. These flyers or 'pluggers' were promotional devices that were found in local record shops or passed around at schools and on the streets.
There is an amazing cut n paste, hand drawn DIY feel about these ephemeral flyers, which not only document the DJs of this vibrant scene, but also the record shops, labels, promoters, and dance groups involved.
This book reflects a more recent expansion of Mario “Liv It Up” Luna’s collection of Chicago house music flyers, ranging from the years 1983 to 1992.
