An Illustrated History of Filmmaking by Adam Allsuch Boardman
Now this is exciting. Adam, the author and illustrator of this wonderful book for Nobrow, graduated from Leeds' Arts University in 2017. During his course he worked on creating prints, merchandise and policy trailers for the iconic Hyde Park Picture House. So as you can imagine, a book by a film-obsessed, talented local illustrator for one of our favourite publishers was always going to be an event.
In his first book, Adam explores some of the methods, devices and people who have shaped filmmaking through its history and provides us with a concise, personal and fascinating take on the development of the silver screen. This would be great in itself, but factor in 100 pages of the author's exquisite illustration, reproduced beautifully by NoBrow, and you've got something special in your hands.
