It's a largely unexplored area of British culture and one that, for many people (of a certain age), will elicit enormous pangs of nostalgia. Sure the bags are still with us, and with the resurgence of the record shop, increasing again in number, but these examples, complete with wild typography, beautifully naive drawings, and, in some cases, hand-scrawled notes speak of a certain time. Here there are ghosts - of many small independent businesses now vanished and of high street chains now a faded, dusty memory. In some rare instances, for example, Jumbo in Leeds (have you been?), the businesses are still there and going strong.
With a foreword by John Savage and a lovingly written intro by Mr Trunk himself, this is an essential purchase for ephemera lovers and crate diggers alike.
