Plinth - Music for Smalls Lighthouse - Clay Pipe Music
Plinth is a recording project of Michael Tanner, and 'Music for Small's Lighthouse' is a wonderful example of his work. The album tells the tale of two men, Thomas Howell and Thomas Griffin, who set out in 1800 to spend six months together as lighthouse keepers on Smalls Rock, 20 miles off the Welsh coast. It is a dark tale of drunkenness, death and madness atmospherically told with piano, cello, dulcimer and glockenspiel.
This is the second pressing of the LP, released in August 2018 on sea foam green vinyl. The record was released in an edition of 500 copies, comes in a reverse board sleeve and is hand-numbered. This edition features an 18 page booklet that retells the tale, illustrated by Frances Castle.
