A collaboration between the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew and Hoxton Mini Press, The Botanical City is an urban foragers dream and celebrates the most exciting, beautiful and extraordinary plants to be found on any city's roadsides.
The book combines the exquisite illustrations from William Curtis' 18th Century book 'Flora Londinensis' with up-to-date information about the flora, its herbal traditions and long-forgotten folkloric links.
Separated into five chapters, the book guides us on the plants we can readily consume (Eat), those we can create things from (Make), those that will bring flair to your garden (Grow) those to avoid (Kill) and the plants that can be used for their medicinal purposes (Heal).
A beautifully published collaborative project nearly 250 years in the making and one that will allow us to think more deeply about the environment we live in, and our relationship with it.
