The new issue of Uppercase has wellbeing at its centre. Inside there are articles on the printmaking of Delita Martin, whose work offers powerful representations of black men and women, the therapeutic practice of ÉLli Abdellahi, who specialises in working with gender variant youth, and the encaustic art of Deitlind Vander Schaaf, whose work is informed by yoga.
Uppercase is put together by Janine Vangool who has a keen eye for contemporary crafts. It is beautifully printed on matte stock and the spine alone is a work of art. A pleasing and collectable publication. While the magazine looks at traditional craft, it is in no way nostalgic, it looks at contemporary applications and champions modern and inspiring craft.
