Reverses, a brand new book from the excellent CentreCentre, is a celebration of unintentional creativity. Inside you'll find 150 intriguing and hidden artworks found in the V&A collection.
Photographed by V&A photographer George Eksts, the images within - created by marks, damage, fragments of sketches, notes and remnants of reuse - are to be found on the reverse, or verso, of each finished drawing, painting or print included.
Each image is a clue to the object’s history, ownership and maker’s process, allowing us to complete a view that is normally hidden. Like the maker's name locked inside a brick, or marginalia scrawled inside a paperback - here are works that have remained un-viewed due to their being on the wrong side of the paper.
