In 2019 James Unsworth made a drawing a week based on Ancient Greek ceramics from the British Museum's collection of ancient Greek red figure pottery and contemporary models sourced through Instagram.
The pieces displayed, as well as capturing sports, conflict, heroes, etc, also present some of the earliest surviving examples of same sex activity. Jame's series of plate images also addresses and revises these ancient artefacts by inserting fat gender, non-conforming black, brown, trans and femme bodies into the visuals, and in so doing into history itself.
Joyful, playful stuff.
