Ah, remember when the close proximity of motorways was a reason to feel a flush of civic pride? The rebuilding boom of the '60 & '70s was intended to give Leeds a futuristic and functional feel and these new transportation links were seen as vital routes to these goals. Leeds, already a meeting point of two major motorways, was also home to the first urban motorway which ran right through it!
The three arrowed logo and accompanying slogan 'Motorway City of the Seventies' were taken up as part of a city re-brand and even appeared as a postmark on letters.
Produced by the Modernist Society with the kind permission of Leeds City Council this handsome enameled pin badge (measuring 20 x 20mm) will sharpen up any lapel (wide and made out of velvet, natch).
