The vernacular of the American highway has been captured in our imaginations through endless films and artworks - gas stations, billboards and, of course, motels.
This collection of screenprints by FRANTICHAM (Francis van Maele and Antic-Ham), is a celebration of the motel matchbooks from the 1950s and 1960s. The Gormon, El Mirador, Casa Grande, Ocean Sands - the bright signage, tropical motifs and modernist feel all converge to create a sense of place - and its a place where Chuck Berry and the Beach Boys play on the radio 24/7.
This edition is quarter cloth bound and printed on 170gsm Munken Lynx Rough paper in an edition of 1250 copies.
