Damn fine book alert. 'Beyond the Beyond' explores the use of music in the films of cult American auteur and king of the weird, David Lynch. With chapters on the industrial soundscapes of Eraserhead to the classical score subversion of The Straight Story, this beautiful tome covers all of Lynch's masterpieces of cinema and features words from some truly gifted musicians who played at the 2015 David Lynch Foundation benefit - including The Flaming Lips, Angelo Badalamenti, Zola Jesus and Jim James. If that wasn't enough, there is an interview with the man himself, a collection of photographs and ephemera from the director's personal archive and a live CD recording of the benefit gig performed at the Ace Hotel concert.
Beautifully published by Hat and Beard, this is essential reading for fans of Lynch or of cinematic scores.
